Is One TIME® technology different from conventional wood treatments?
Yes, One TIME® wood protector is a proprietary acrylate resin blend that contains no water, wax or solvents. The resins are cured by natural sunlight and become part of the cellular structure of the wood. One TIME® contains 100 percent solids, where conventional treatments usually contain only 5-20 percent solids. Conventional treatments typically contain water and/or solvents that can cause the wood's cellular structure to swell, then shrink as it dries, causing cracking. Water and solvents also dissipate quickly into the air. And because most wood treatments build up on the surface and eventually wash away, it becomes necessary to reseal the wood every one-to-two years.
How often is it necessary to reapply One TIME®?
Because One TIME® penetrates and is cured into the wood, it provides protection for seven years. As a result, Bond Distributing offers a 7-year warranty on One TIME®, compared to the one-to-two year warranties offered with conventional treatments.
Can I apply One TIME® to any type of outdoor wood product?
One TIME® can be used on virtually any type of exterior wood or wood product. When treating NEW CEDAR WOOD AND REDWOOD needs to be naturally weathered for one year before applying One TIME. We highly suggest using Red Cedar or Clove Brown on any cedar and redwood. The most common residential applications include decks, fences, log homes, sheds, shake roofs, wood siding, yard and garden furniture, and children's play sets. Popular commercial applications include restaurant decks, boardwalks, boat docks, park benches, bleachers, posts and border treatments.
COVERAGE - How many gallons of One TIME® do I need?
Coverage performance depends on the condition of the wood surface being protected. If the wood is fairly new (less than 5 years old), smooth and has minimal cracks and crevices, each gallon of One TIME® covers approximately 300-350 square feet. On older and/or slightly damaged wood surfaces, One TIME® will cover about 250-300 square feet per gallon. Conventional treatments offer significantly less coverage per gallon.
Has Bond Distributing tested One TIME to ensure the product will protect outdoor wood for seven years or more?
Actually, One TIME has been proven to protect outdoor wood structures for more than eight years. At Bond Distributing’s field-testing site, one application of One TIME was applied to an outdoor wood structure, and after eight years there is still no evidence of fungal growth, warping, cupping, or splitting.
How should I apply One TIME®?
One TIME® is very easy to apply using any of the standard methods - brush, low nap roller, paint pad, or an airless paint sprayer. However, it is important to prepare the wood surface before applying.
How do I clean my equipment after applying One TIME®?
After applying One TIME® clean your equipment with a quality cleaning product such as Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser.
What type of preparation is required before application?
If a new wood surface is being sealed, the wood must be thoroughly cleaned with a quality cleaner such as Bond Distributing's Two StepTM Wood Cleaner and dried for 48 hours before applying One TIME®. Any dirt or stains not removed will be permanently sealed into the wood.
If the wood surface has been previously treated with other products, it must be removed by using a quality stain and sealer remover like One TIME® Stain and Sealer Remover. Otherwise, the existing treatment may inhibit the penetration of One TIME® and may cause the wood to feel tacky.
How quickly will One TIME® start working?
One TIME® starts protecting wood immediately upon application.
How long does it take to cure?
One TIME® is cured by both direct and indirect sunlight. Under overcast conditions, 48 hours is needed for curing. In direct sunlight, One TIME® cures in less than 48 hours. DO NOT APPLY One TIME in an enclosure. Also, DO NOT apply under very large roof covered areas. Porches with normal roofs are safe.
When is the best time to apply One TIME®?
For best results, One TIME® should be applied when temperatures range from 60 -100 degrees Fahrenheit. Avoid application if rain is forecasted within 48 hours of application.
How many applications of One TIME® are needed to effectively protect wood surfaces?
Only a single application of One TIME® is required to effectively protect the wood.
Is One TIME® comparable in cost to conventional treatments?
While the initial per gallon cost of One TIME® is higher than conventional wood treatments, it is actually less expensive in the long-term. One TIME® covers two-to-three times more square footage per gallon than other treatments, requiring less product to complete a project. In addition, One TIME® is applied only once every seven years, versus every one-to-two years for conventional treatments, resulting in the need for less product and less labor.
